May December Publication was started by Denise Brown in 2009 out of her believe in her husband’s writings. Seeing that writing is an integral part of who he is she knew that he had to be published. After doing research, she saw that there were so many others feeling the same way. She recruited her son Andrew Maxwell and his company Heka Interactive and her daughter in law Whitney Maxwell to build a website, create the company logo and information and design the cover to Zomblog. Everything started coming together, so May December Publications became a LLC in December of that year and Zomblog was published.
May December Publications was named after Todd’s three children. Cody was born in May and Ronni and Alex were born in December. With that it gave us our premise for the company – two sides of the company, two different publishing models, two different sides of the tree. The May side and the December side. May – comfort food for the eyes, and December – shock, awe, and cringe
PUBLISHING MODEL AND PHILOSOPHY
TO FIND STORIES THAT WILL GRAB THE READER TO SEARCH FOR THINGS THAT ARENT PREDICTABLE OR THE NORM
THE DECEMBER SIDE IS MORE OF A SHOCK AND AWE APPROACH – I LIKE IT IF THE READER OCCASIONALLY GETS OVERWHELMED – I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING 3 DIMENSIONAL NOT FULL OF CARDBOARD CUTOUTS
FOR THE MAY SIDE I WANT SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN SIT DOWN IN A CHAIR, THROW ON A CLASSICAL MUSIC CD, AND IMMERSE YOURSELF IN. IF IT MAKES YOU THINK – GREAT – IF IT JUST ENTERTAINS YOU, THAT IS EVEN BETTER. COMFORT FOOD FOR THE EYES.
